KARACHI - Protest continued in the metropolis on Wednesday outside US consulate and Karachi Press Club against the blasphemous film Various religious, secular, business community and minorities condemned the production of anti-Islam film. Scores of workers of Jamat Ahle-e-Sunnat Pakistan, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad and Hindu community staged protest against the movie outside Karachi Press Club and condemned the movie. Protesters carrying placards, banners inscribed with anti-US slogans demanded to send US ambassadors back in protest and end the relationship with United States. Different trade association of the city organised rally from Araam Bagh to Karachi Press Club to condemn the act of hate movie. The participants were carrying placard with ant-US slogan and demanded death plenty for the whole film team. They also burnt United States flag and effigy of President Obama.
Meanwhile, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the Hyderi market blasts, and urged traders, market associations and the general public to enforce Chowkidari (vigilance) system in their neighbourhoods keeping in view terror threats. Addressing the party’s coordination committee at its headquarters “90” via telephone from London, he said terrorists want to carry out a major terrorist act in the country, particularly Karachi.
He said as the government is responsible to take effective steps for the protection of life and property of the masses, the public should also cooperate in this regard. The MQM chief appealed to all the market associations to enforce a strict vigilance system at their places from today and keep a vigilant eye on suspicious persons and things, and in case of any suspicious activity inform law enforcement agencies.
He said neighbourhood vigilance committees comprising area youths, elders, Ulema, women and students should be set up to guard areas on self-help basis.
