KARACHI – Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said on Thursday that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s budget volume for the next fiscal year would be around Rs31 billion.
“These projects include a parking plaza, housing schemes and other commercial ventures,” he said while adding that the KMC was also reviewing the measures to enhance its revenue.
The administrator also said that planning had been done for 20 per cent increase in salaries of KMC staff. He further said that ongoing projects would be completed on preferential basis and various new projects would be initiated in the next fiscal year with the cooperation of Turkey, Iran, Japan and other countries. He said the city’s infrastructure needed necessary measures for its improvement, including a master plan.
The administrator directed the Finance Department to ensure payment of pension to retired employees on the first of every month and this head must be used only for payment of pension and dues. He said that unnecessary expenditures of the KMC would be minimised so that more and more development works could be carried out with the start of new ones.
The meeting was also attended by Financial Advisor Aamir Khursheed, Finance Director Munawwar Imam, Budget Director Nasir Mehmood, E&IP Director Shoaib Waqar and others.
