CHI - An alleged culprit involved in street crime was shot dead in police encounter here on Tuesday while his two accomplices were arrested in critical condition, said a police official.
SIU SP Gul Hameed Sammu said an encounter between police and robbers occurred near Guru Mandir Chowrangi, Jamshed Town, when the police party tried to stop a suspicious car. But the driver attempted escape from the scene and the criminals travelling in the car started firing on the police party.
The police also retaliated. As a result, one accused killed on the spot while two others wounded seriously and were arrested. Another culprit managed to escape from the scene during the exchange of fire.
The deceased robber was identified as Imran while the injured ones included Greyfain and Walley Masih. They were taken to Civil Hospital in critical condition, the official said. Sammu further claimed that huge quantity of weapons was also recovered from the culprits. The accused have confessed that they were involved in various heinous crimes and were wanted to the police in Nazimabad, Gulshan, Aziz Bhatti and others towns.
