KARACHI - An eminent compere of Pakistan Television and noted intellectual Obaidullah Baig passed away here on Friday after protracted illness. He was 76.His funeral prayer was offered on Friday at Sultan Masjid in DHA and the burial took place at the Defence, Gizri graveyard.Late Obaidullah Baig was suffering from cancer for quite sometime. He left behind a widow and three daughters.Obaidullah Baig rose to fame from the ‘Kasauti’ programme of Pakistan Television.SINDH CM, GOVERNOR CONDOLES DEMISE OF OBAIDULLAH BAIG: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed deep sorrow and grief on the demise of renowned scholar, compere and intellectual Obaidullah Baig who passed away here on Friday.In a condolence message, he said that the pair of Obaidullah Baig and Qureshpur had played a positive role in various programmes of Pakistan Television particularly in ‘Kasauti’ and the educational, literary and cultural efforts he made, will ever be remembered. The CM Sindh also condoled with the bereaved family members.Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of eminent compere and intellectual Obaidullah Baig who died here on Friday.In a condolence message, he recounted the services of the deceased in literature and journalism. Ebad prayed to Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.KU VC CONDOLES DEMISE OF OBAIDULLAH BAIG: The Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser has condoled the demise of a well-known scholar, writer and media expert Obaidullah Baig. In a condolence message here on Friday, he said that his death has left a void in the literary and scholarly field which is difficult to be filled.
