KARACHI - Five people died in separate mishaps here on Friday.Two people were crushed to death near Naurus Chowrangi within the limits of Site-A police station. The tragic incident took place before Friday prayers where two friends namely 52-year-old Saleem Moosa and 45-year-old Saleem Aziz were going to their homes in Karimabad on motorcycle. A speeding truck crushed them. They both died on the spot. The truck driver left his vehicle and managed to flee from the scene. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities where their family members took the bodies away without any legal formalities. Police registered an FIR No 312/12 against unidentified driver and further investigation is in process.Separately, two labourers died under the heavy weight of cement bags during work at Super Highway in the limits of Memon Goth police station. The victim 40-year-old Khair Muhammad and Imtiaz Ali, 35, were busy unloading the cement bags from a truck in the cement factory situated at Super Highway. Suddenly some bags fell from truck and both of them crushed to death. Police shifted them to the nearest hospital where doctors pronounced their deaths then police moved their bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. Police said both the victims were residing in the same factory and hailed from Mirpurkhas.In another incident, a man died in a road accident near Continental Bakers in the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. The victim 38-year-old Farooq Abbas was the resident of Azizabad No-2. He was going home and when he reached Block 16, Gulistan-e-Jauhar near Continental Bakers, a speeding vehicle knocked him and escaped. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to JPMC where doctors said that the deceased sustained serious injuries in his head. Later police handed over his body to the family and no case was registered till the filing of the report.
