Fish aquarium grabs public attention

KARACHI – A large number of citizens have started visiting Landhi-Korangi Zoo after the construction of Fish Aquarium to see the unique species of fishes and newly-inducted animals, birds imported from different countries.

The Landhi Sports Complex, with the indoor games facilities, will also be opened for public this week to provide healthy recreation facilities. KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed chaired a meeting to review and ensure speedy work on the uplift works in Landhi and Korangi.
Director General Technical Services Altaf Memon, Senior Director Sports, Culture and Recreation Rehan Khan and other officers attended the meeting.
The administrator said provision of sports and recreation facilities was necessary besides the infrastructure development. More than 50 different coluorful fish species were inducted in the fish aquarium built in the Landhi-Koragni Zoo with an estimated cost of Rs30million. About 40 fishponds were also established in this fish aquarium for breeding of 90 per cent of the fishes which were brought from other countries. The meeting was informed that the induction of new animals and birds and renovation and up-gradation works in the Karachi Zoo, Landhi-Korangi Zoo and Safari Park will be continued to provide better recreation facilities to citizens. The construction work of Landhi Sports Complex was completed where facilities for different indoor games were provided. He said the project was delayed since last 20 years which had now been completed on the special directive of the governor so that the poor and middle class youth form Landhi, Korangi, Malir and adjoining areas could get better sports and recreation facilities near to their home and excel in the sports field.
