KARA CHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that country is going through worst financial crisis. He urged the government to impose agricultural tax on feudal lord's land to extend the tax network in the country. He said, "If MQM come to power it will impose agriculture tax on all feudal lords and if they denied giving it, the government will seize their lands and distribute them among haris." He was addressing the Party workers from London on Saturday at a public reception held at Jinnah Ground in honour of Karachi Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal of being nominated as one of the three best mayors of the world. Hussain congratulated the City nazim of being elected among three best mayors of the world by US Foreign Policy magazine and said that this was the result of hard work of Kamal that he was chosen for this award. He reiterated his suggestion of establishing national fund and demanded of the President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani to issue orders in this connection. He announced that MQM would give Rs one million in this fund if the government will establish the national fund to bring the country out from the financial crisis. Hussain said that this was injustice with the common people and business community if the government would not impose the agriculture tax and pass the burden to common citizens. He strongly advised the government to impose the agriculture tax, otherwise the country would continue facing financial crisis. A large number of people including women and children attended the public reception at Jinnah Ground. Strict security arrangements were made and MQM volunteers searched all the visitors before allowing them to enter the ground. He categorically rejected an impression that there were threats to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and MQM coalition. "The coalition of PPP and MQM was strong and sustainable, and both the parties are committed to work for the prosperity of the country." MQM Rabita Committee Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar and City Nazim Mustafa Kamal also address on the occasion.
