Mazhar’s remark conspiracy to bifurcate Sindh

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement Coordination Committee Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar on Sunday demanded to bring the bill for establishing a university in Hyderabad in the Sindh Assembly or else the people would march on the Sindh Assembly building.
Addressing a gathering of people protesting the statement of Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazhar outside the Karachi Press Club, Sattar said the MQM had extended support for the establishment of Lyari Medical College in Lyari, adding that it would continue its protest until a bill regarding the establishment of a university in Hyderabad was not presented in the Sindh Assembly. He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement would stage more protests if the government did not present the Hyderabad University bill in the Sindh Assembly on Monday. Other members of the Coordination Committee and senators, MNAs and MPAs from the MQM were part of the protest.
The protesters chanted slogans such as “division of Sindh not acceptable”, “we strongly condemn the statement of Mazhar”.
The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with the writing “Pir Mazhar has laid the foundation of division of Sindh”, “We strongly condemn this anti-Sindh step”, “Does the PPP not suppose Hyderabad as part of Sindh” and “Withdrawal of SPLGO, 2012 not acceptable,” etc.
Sattar said the people of Sindh understood that what elements did not want to see Sindh and Urdu-speaking people united. He said the people would reject the PPP in the coming polls, adding that the MQM would be elected out with majority from rural Sindh in the next elections.
He termed the statement of Mazhar a conspiracy to divide Sindh, anti-Sindh and anti-Pakistan and an open proof of intolerance. “The real face of the PPP has been unveiled by the statement of its senior minister,” Sattar said, adding the PPP wanted to push the people of Sindh and Pakistan into darkness of illiteracy.
He said the entire Sindh was on protest over the conspiracy to divide Sindh, and assured that the MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain were with the people of Hyderabad.
Members of MQM Coordination Committee Waseem Aftab, Ashfaque Mangi and MQM MPA Heer Ismail Soho also addressed the protesters.
