KARACHI - After failure in bring back the estranged allies into the ruling fold, the PPP leadership has given the additional charge of the portfolios to the PPP ministers, which were vacant after the resignations submitted by the ministers/advisors of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-F) and National People’s Party (NPP) against the passage of controversial local government Act 2012.
According to the officials, after the resignation of PML-F’s minister Muhammad Rafiq Banbhan, the portfolio of Auqaf Department will hold by the PPP minister Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto, who already is minister for Katchi Abadies Department.
Similarly, after the resignation of Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh of PML-F, the additional charge of the special education department has been given to the PPP minister for Archives department Advocate Muhammad Rafique Engineer, while the portfolio of Mines and Mineral Department has been given to the PPP minister without portfolio Muhammad Sadiq Memon.
The additional charge of portfolio of Livestock Department, which earlier holds by the NPP’s Abid Jatoi, has been given to the PPP minister Agha Tamour Pathan.
The PPP government has been failed in convincing the estranged allies to bring back in the ruling fold as PML-F and NPP already on roads against the controversial local government law. PML-F chief Pir Pagara recently declared that his doors of rejoining the government has been closed and he will tour the whole province to gather the people of Sindh to speak up against the local government law in one voice.
EID HOLIDAYS: Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) has announced that Karachi and Islamabad campuses of the university will remain closed from October 26 to 29 on account of Eidul Azha.
FUUAST has also announced that the FUUAST Dean of Science Faculty Prof Dr Syed Muhammad Jamal Haider Shah will perform as the Acting Vice Chancellor since October 25 to November 3, 2012, as FUUAST Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser has left for abroad on his personal visit.
On the other hand, Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) has announced that the university along with its Model Schools for Boys and Girls will remain closed from October 26 to 29 on account of Eid. The institution will reopen on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in-charge Semester Examination Section, Karachi University has asked the students to submit their mark-sheet option forms by November 6, 2012 to change their BS Programme degrees to honors/masters. He said after the due date no option forms or applications for amendment in options would be accepted.
