KARACHI – The Anti Smuggling Organisation of Pakistan Customs has seized an oil tanker containing 40,000-litre Iranian smuggled diesel.According to the statement, in compliance with the directives issued by the Chairman FBR the ASO of Customs Preventive Karachi has stepped up the drive against smuggled Iranian origin POL products. Pursuant to an information about huge quantity of Iranian diesel being smuggled, on last Wednesday’s evening, the Customs ASO seized an oil tanker bearing registration number TKU-161 containing 40,000 liters of HSD oil. The tanker carrying it has also been seized. Total value of seized HSD and tanker comes to Rs1,14,00,000. Drivers of the vehicles and their helpers have also been apprehended. The seizure of such a huge quantity of smuggled diesel is unprecedented and has broken the back bone of smugglers. POL products of Iranian origin are smuggled from Iran via Balochistan and are supplied to petrol pumps and other clandestine sale points in outskirts of Karachi as well as Karachi city. Smugglers normally use Hub area in Baluchistan as a transit storage point and then supply the same using small link roads and other less frequented routes crossing Hub River Road, Northern bypass and Super Highway.The above mentioned is the 5th seizer of POL products by the staff of ASO, Customs Preventive during the last one month. CM files declarations of not having dual nationality:?Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, being member of Provincial Assembly from PS-29 (District Khairpur) has filed declaration on oath before Election Commission of Pakistan, that he is a citizen of Pakistan and do not possess the citizenship of any foreign state / country.He has stated that at the time of filling of nomination papers for the aforesaid seat, he was citizen of Pakistan and has not acquired the citizenship of any foreign state/country. Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah further maintained that the declaration made at the time of filling the nomination papers was nothing but true.
