KARACHI – Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have apprehended two alleged members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday.The SIU police said that the raid was conducted in Sultanabad and Mangopir areas in which two operatives of TTP namely Akramullah alias Naveed and Murad Ali were arrested. Police recovered a hand grenade, two TT pistols, bullets and a snatched car from their possession.Addressing a press conference, SIU Chief SSP Farooq Awan said that the accused persons were involved in several cases of target killings including Police officers, collection of extortion and attack on Manghopir police station. They also involved in other heinous crime especially in Manghopir and surrounding areas. On the other side, Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have arrested two target killers namely Hassan Mehmood alias Aalo and Abid alias Goge and recovered a hand grenade and two Pistols along with bullets.SSP Mazhar Mashwani said that the accused persons have involved in various incidents of target killing on political and sectarian grounds.Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested 11 criminals including 5 target killers during targeted operation in different parts of metropolis, rangers’ official said that heavy cache of weapon from their possession.   Meanwhile, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) managed to defuse a high intensity bomb device planted near KDA Chowrangi, Block-A, with the aim to hit Bohri community, within the jurisdiction of North Nazimabad police station.Police officials said that, police being informed when sweeper of the area saw the suspicious box.Police and experts of BDS reached on the spot where experts took at least half an hour to defused the bomb. The bomb was planted outside home of the former controller of Secondary Board house No.C-208, namely Rahat Siddique. BDS experts said that it was the remote control device, placed to hit Bohri community on their Eid Day festival celebrated on Thursday. It was the six kilogram bomb carrying ball barring and was the very much similar to the previous bombs attacks took place in the same areas. It is pertinent to mention here that culprits have planted some 35 kg bomb at Hydri Market on August 13, but the bomb was defused before the explosion. Successful bomb attack claimed seven lives took place in the same areas on 24 September.
