KARACHI - Security forces have failed to enter the troubled areas of Lyari where the unabated gang war claimed an overall 14 more lives.
The area is continuously echoing with explosions and gunshots on the third consecutive day of gang war between the two groups of Uzair Jan Baloch and Noor Muhammad aka Baba Ladla.
Police and rangers also claimed to have killed an alleged gangster. The residents revealed that police and rangers were disappeared from Lyari and gangsters are ruling the roost.
The fresh wave of violence between the rival notorious gangster, Baba Ladla, and the outlawed Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) began on Thursday.
Sources in Lyari and police revealed that some 14 people have so far been killed during armed clashes. Both the groups are using rockets, grenades and automatic rifles. The victims’ relatives are unable to reach hospitals for autopsy of their beloved ones due to intense firing.
Sources said four men, including Fahim Baloch, Yousuf Masih, Younus Masih and Ali were killed and Fakhar Siddique was injured in a firing incident in Eidu Lane and Slaughter House areas of Baghdadi, Lyari. All the victims and the injured were associated with the Baba Ladla group. The bodies of four men were found separately from Bihar Colony, Lea Market and Aath Chowk areas. They were believed to be killed after being kidnapped. All of them had torture marks and multiple bullets wounds. Another man Mohsin Akram was shot dead at Alfalah Road.
Emergency declared at the Civil Hospital, Karachi as victims of gang war are continuously reaching the hospital in large numbers. Doctors pointed out that there are multiple bullet wounds on each body with brutal torture.
The entire Lyari wore a deserted look while the residents of Lyari bound themselves in their houses as they are also facing food shortage.
The residents also faced the electricity shortfall as several electricity PMTs were also damaged after several rockets and bullets hit them during the gang war.
Earlier on the night between Friday and Saturday, a gangster Yousuf Shah, from Baba Ladla group, was killed during an alleged encounter.
Police and rangers conducted an operation in Lyari while four gangsters associated with the Wasihullah Lakho group of Lyari gangsters were also apprehended. A huge cache of hand grenades, weapons and ammo were also recovered.
It is worth mentioning here the skirmishes between the former allies had been continued for the last couple of months. On Thursday, operatives of Uzair Baloch rushed to the dominated area of Baba to escape arrest during the targeted operation where an exchange of fire took place between the rival groups. The internal encounter claimed three lives of innocent people. On the second consecutive day of gang war, two members of Baba Ladla, one of Uzair Baloch and one noncombatant person were killed.
A notorious gangster Jabbar Langra of Ladla group was killed in an alleged encounter with the rangers.
