KARACHI – Retired chief justice Zahid Qurban Alvi-led tribunal has called from political groups the lists carrying details of their workers killed in targeted attacks this year so that the process of financial compensation to their legal heirs could soon be implemented.In this respect, a meeting of the tribunal, held here the other day, was submitted such lists by representatives of parties, including the ruling PPP, MQM, ANP, Sunni Tehreek, Jafaria Alliance, Awami Tehreek. The tribunal chief asked them to come up with complete lists of their workers who fell prey to targeted killings in the next meeting on October 9.Sources said the tribunal had been facing issues such as duplicity in the names of victims, as different political parties were showing several victims as associated with them. Besides, the names those people killed over personal enmity by robbers or in some other way were also mentioned in their lists. The tribunal has sent the lists to the police for verification. When contacted, Lateef Mughal of the ruling PPP, who submitted such a list, told The Nation that at least 78 workers of the PPP fell victim to targeted killings since January 1. He said that out of these 78 victims, the police have verified that 68 had links with the PPP. He added that the list of victims of July to September 30 would be submitted in the next meeting of the tribunal.Meanwhile, former provincial minister and MPA Amir Nawab, who represented the ANP in the tribunal meeting, said that 46 workers of his party were killed in targeted assaults in the first six months of this year. The police verified 37 of them had association with the party, he said, adding that he would submit a fresh list of victims killed during July to September on October 9.\
