KARACHI - Sindh Tajir Ittehad gives an indefinite strike call against the increasing trend of target killing, kidnapping, extortion and lawlessness. The traders also announced the one day strike throughout the country against the situation of the financial hub of the country.
Traders said the provincial government was responsible for the current situation of the City. They demanded the federal government to intervene into the situation. They also requested the army to play its role for establishing peace in the City.
Traders staged protest outside the Karachi Press club under the banner of Sindh Tajir Ittehad. Addressing the protestors, STI chairman Jameel Paracha said traders had formally started their movement against extortion, kidnapping and target killing from Tuesday and it will continue till the end of lawlessness.
He announced that traders will cordon off the Sindh Assembly building on the day of coming session. He said the business community of Karachi was receiving threats from the last decades but no one took action against those elements. “Now it is unbearable for the stakeholders who are badly suffered due to this which is now affecting their families and homes.”
He warned that Karachi has 70 percent share in national economy and if it will get paralysed it will also affect the federation.
He expressed confidence over the judiciary and demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry to take suo moto action against the kidnapping of traders.
