KARACHI - A senior police officer and his friend were shot dead in a target killing incident in Korangi police precincts here on Monday.SP Shah Muhammad was posted as SP Admin. Four gunmen targeted him when he reached his friend’s, Dr Dilshad, clinic, located near Bangali Para, No 3 Korangi, for his regular medical check-up.Constable Riaz, who also sustained bullet injuries, said in his statement to the police that Dr Dilshad and the SP were standing outside the clinic when gunmen targeted them. Shah received six bullets while Dr Dilshad was hit by four bullets and gunman Riaz hit by two bullets. Both the injured succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.Inspector General Sindh Police Mushtaq Shah reached the crime scene and termed the incident as target killing. The IG while talking to the media said that they were trying to investigate the motive behind the killings. It could be a result of deceased’s participation in 90’s Karachi Operation.He was the SHO at Gulberg police station where brother and nephew of MQM chief Altaf Hussain had been residing and gunned down during operation. Police sources said that deceased was among the nominated culprits in FIR 130/97 registered on the complaint of MQM leader Shoaib Bukhari.Shah had five children and wife in Punjab. He contracted second marriage two months ago with Kaniz Fatima, resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
