DPC’s sit-in against Nato supplies tomorrow

KARACHI - Difa-e Pakistan Council (DPC) would stage a sit-in protest at the Karachi Press Club on June 1 against the expected restoration of NATO supply routes from Pakistan to Afghanistan. This was decided in an important meeting held at Idara-e Noor-e Haq Wednesday. JI Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mehanti had presided over the meeting.

Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-S) leader Maulana Ghulam Mustafa Farooqui, Jamat-ud-Dawa leader Prof. Mehmoodul Hassan, Awami Muslim League leader Mehfooz Yar Khan Advocate, JI Deputy Chief Birjees Ahmed, Jamiat Ittehad Ulema leader Maulana Ibrahim Hanif, Maulana Abdul Wahid, Habib Ahmed Hanafi, Fazal Akbar, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Nazaryati leader Ali Ur Rehman Mehmood, Maulana Abdul Sattar Madani, Muslim League Sher-e Bengal leader Dr Alauddin, Hafiz Rehmatullah and others attended.
Jamiat Ulema Islam-S leader Mufti Usman Yar Khan, Ehl-e Sunnat wal Jamaat leader Maulana Taj Muhammad Hanafi and Ansar Al Umma leader Maulana Muhammad Yar Rabbani endorsed the decision.
Speaking on the occasion, Mehanti said that DPC had launched a country-wide campaign against the resumption of NATO supply. The restoration was contrary to national prestige and country’s sovereignty.
He said that the USA threatened the freedom of the people and wanted to make Pakistan its colony. Drone attacks were killing innocent citizens but the rulers were bent upon reinforcing the US and NATO by restoring their arms supply lines.
He said that the present rulers were a direct threat to the sovereignty of the state. He appealed to the people of the city and JI workers to participate in the sit-in.
