PML-Q ‘hungry’ MPs demand uplift grants

LAHORE – All angry federal ministers and other parliamentarians of the PML-Q have given the party high command deadline until Eid for the issuance of development funds from the PPP-led government or they will be free to decide their political future, TheNation has learnt.

Sources said the party members demanded of the top leadership for getting Rs300 million development funds for each MNA. They further informed about the commotion among the party ranks quoted party’s parliamentarians as saying that they would be free to rethink their political options if the Chaudharys of Gujrat would fail to get their demands fulfilled during the given deadline.
“Some federal ministers have said that party’s high command is becoming weaker by every passing day because of their poor bargaining with the ‘cunning inner circle of PPP leadership’ each time, resultantly throwing the PML-Q parliamentarians against the wrath of their electorate defenseless,” the sources said.
They further maintained that it had become difficult for the party men to defend themselves or the party in front of their voters whether it was the matter of development works or loadshedding.
They added that they would not be able to win their seats in the next elections in the existing circumstances and therefore it would be better to reconsider their political options to secure their electoral future.
A federal minister of the PML-Q narrating the story of the relationship with their coalition partner PPP seeking anonymity said he had no officer of his choice in his ministry and at the same time PPP being the lead coalition party was not willing to accept his demand to get officers of his choice. The minister said the PPP only oblige Chaudharys of Gujrat’s personal requests.
When asked about the chances of further split in the PML-Q, the minister observed that he did not see a new group, however many of the remaining heavyweights would part ways with party if the top leadership failed to get their demands fulfilled this time.
“I and my other colleagues really want business this time and we will not accept any lame accuse of our leadership or the PPP regarding the demands”, he added.
Meanwhile, former federal minister of PML-Q Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat has taken a back bench in the party due to differences with the party’s high command and party circles have told this scribe that ‘Sajjada Nasheen of Shah Jewana’ is no more with the Chaudharys.
