FIA Additional Director Syed Javed Shah was summoned by SP Model Town police and quizzed. Javed Shah said that he was summoned only for the reason that as per investigators, they have made sketches of the accused and one of them was beard person. “I am a beard person and that is why I was summoned a couple of days back,” said Javed Shah while talking to TheNation.
Deputy Director Haroon who had a blue-coloured jeep was supposed to be summoned within a coming couple of days, said an FIA officer on condition of anonymity. He said that as per investigators, the accused who kidnapped applicant were riding a blue jeep. When contacted, Haroon said that he had not received any written summon so far. However, he said he had listened that he would be summoned by the police.
Apart from these officers, FIA Deputy Director Administration Sajid Akram, former Deputy Director Passport Cell Nasir Jameel, Inspector Jameel Khan, Sub Inspector, Murtaza Bajwa and Riaz Butt were also summoned.
An FIA officer said that Sajid Akram was not present in Pakistan; Nasir Jameel was also on leave while rest of the officers had recorded their statements to the police.
Sources in the FIA said that it was different sort of case since on the day of incident Syed Javed Shah was on leave and was in Islamabad to appear before the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Another Deputy Director was on leave while third was out of country. Some circles of FIA were of the view that matter was politicised and the FIR was registered against FIA officers after a day when Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that case of Hundi of billions of rupees against Sharif brothers was being referred to the FIA.
It is worth mentioning here that Shadman police Lahore on May 3, 2012 had registered an FIR against some FIA officials for illegally kidnapping Nawaz Sharif’s former accountant.
Muhammad Akram, a retired 70-year-old accountant of Sharif Group, complained to Shadman Police station that as he was coming out of mosque adjacent to his house in Shadman on Thursday night when three persons in civilian clothes picked him up forcibly and threw him in a blue jeep and took him to a house after driving for 20 minutes.
They abused him there and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not give details of Nawaz Sharif’s business concerns.
It was only after the kidnappers learnt that Akram was a cardiac patient and had open heart surgery that they let him free after several hours. Akram alleged that during his confinement and questioning, he learnt that they were FIA officers.
