Trader community, workers rail against Gepco

HAFIZABAD - Hundreds of angry shopkeepers of Madni and other Bazaars and workers of powerloom factories gathered at Fawara Chowk in protest against 20 hours unscheduled loadshedding here.  The protesters, including children, youth and old people, burnt tyres and blocked the road. They were chanted slogans against the federal government and Gepco .
As per detail, traders of Madni Bazaar, led by Rafiq Mughal and Javed Asad took out arally by holding the mock coffin of the federal government and the Gepco. They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the government and the Gepco.
Marching through main thoroughfares, the powerloom factories workers railed against the Gepco for rendering them jobless through over 20 hour-long power outages. Addressing the demonstrators at Fawara Chowk, the traders' leaders strongly criticised the Gepco and called on the federal minister for water and power to take pity on them and save them from starvation. They protesters also blocked the road for many hours.  The protest created panic in the entire locality while the road users had to suffer a lot for many hours.
Probe beings: The Passco Managing Director has deputed Deputy Zonal Head Muhammad Afzal to conduct a probe into the alleged irregularities being committed by the local Passco officials in the supply of gunny bags.
Passco Deputy Zonal Head conducted an inquiry here on Thursday. He recorded the statements of Raza Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Azam, Yasar Arfan and Khalid Mahmood who had alleged that the officials in the district had deprived.
 the genuine growers of gunny bags and issued the same to non-growers and their favourites.
