Paramedics stage protest

November 01, 2012

LAHORE – As part of its protest campaign, the Punjab Paramedics Alliance (PPA) held a demonstration outside the Mental Hospital on Wednesday to press for the demands of service structure, health risk allowance and regularisation of contract employees.
Dozens of paramedics, led by PPA Chairman Malik Munir, gathered outside the Mental Hospital to protest against the lack of interest on the part of bureaucracy to implement the chief minister’s orders. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with writings in favour of their demands and against the government, the paramedics chanted slogans against the bureaucracy.
Malik Munir said that the chief minister had ordered the health secretary more than five months ago to solve the problems of paramedics within three weeks. He alleged that the bureaucracy was using delaying tactics and violating the chief’s minister’s directives. He added that the paramedics had no other option but to launch protest for the fulfillment of their legitimate demands.
