Gunmen flee after shooting five of a family

LAHORE – At least five persons of a family including a 12-year-old boy sustained serious bullet injuries when their opponents opened indiscriminate fire on them in the Iqbal Town area, police said on Friday.
Police investigators said that one Waheed along with his two other accomplices opened fire on the family of Abdul Sattar near the Bhakhaywal More. All the five family members including Abdul Sattar, Saleem, Khalid, Perveen Bibi and 12-year-old Shamraiz sustained serious bullet wounds.
They were rushed to a local hospital, where the condition of three of the wounded was reported to be critical till late Friday night.
Investigators said that the attackers had old enmity with the victims. The gunmen managed to escape from the crime scene without facing any type of resistance.
The police have registered the case and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
In another incident, a college student, later identified as Muhammad Atif, sustained bullet injuries during crossfire between two opponent groups at a private college in the jurisdiction of Nawab Town police.
