Cops pay respect to IGP on departure

LAHORE – A well-prepared police squad presented traditional salute to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman at the Central Police Office (CPO) upon his retirement on Tuesday.

Top police officers from all over the province converged at the CPO on early Tuesday to pay rich tributes to their Commander on the last day of his service in the office. All staff of the CPO was present during the ceremony and they also chanted slogans to pay respect and tribute to the police chief on his retirement.
The prominent among the participants were Additional-IG’s including Malik Khuda Bakhash, Sarmad Saeed, Nasir Khan Durrani, Ahmed Raza Tahir, Naseem-ul-Zaman, Mubarak Ali Athar, and CCPO Lahore Muhammad Aslam Tareen. Regional Police Officers including Amin Wains, Capt (retd) Zubair, Zulfikar Ahmed Cheema, Aamir Zulifqar, Amjad Javed Saleemi, Aftab Ahmed Cheema, Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Sardar Ali Khan, Muhammad Nawaz Waraich and all the DPOs were also present on this occasion.
Earlier, the provincial police chief presided over the RPO conference. On this occasion the IGP said that he faced the ups and downs in his life with courage and happily. He said that as per the intelligence reports he remained on the hit list of Taliban but he continued the mission with the grace of Allah Almighty. The police officers who left no stone unturned to maintain peace and to make the Punjab a crime-free province by implementing my policies, deserve appreciation, the outgoing police chief said. He also thanked all of the officers of the police force and lauded their support and work.
“Since, I am leaving the police department right now but the police force is filled with fearless and brave officers who are ready to face all type security challenges,” the outgoing police said. The top police officers paid rich tributes to their commander. They said that the IGP proved in his career that he is in fact a commander and a crime fighter.
Meanwhile talking to the media persons, the IGP said that Touqeer Sadiq is hiding in Kathmandu in Nepal, where a police team is also present to arrest him and he would be arrested very soon. The IGP has already vacated his official residence and also handed over the official vehicles to the department.
