Electricity shortfall again surges to 4,870MW

The electricity shortfall in the country on Monday increased to 4,870 megawatts which resulted in prolonged hours of loadshedding.

Despite tall claims by Energy Management Cell, no substantial improvement could be made and the situation got worst throughout the country, resulting in 12 to 18 hours of loadshedding.
Currently, the electricity production stands at 12,844MW as compared to the demand of 17,714 MW, therefore, the shortfall stands at 4,870 MW.
The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is being provided with 700MW of electricity on daily basis.
The residents of Lahore are facing up to 12 hours of power outages while the duration in rural areas has surged to 18 hours.
People are facing severe difficulties due to high temperature that has caused more loadshedding and water shortage in many areas.
