New PM following Gilani: Munawar

LAHORE – The new prime minister, following the footsteps of his predecessor, is not willing to write to the Swiss courts, thus committing contempt of court.
Talking to a delegation of Pakistanis living abroad, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan said on Sunday that President Asif Ali Zardari had selected another scapegoat in Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to protect his ill-gotten wealth in Swiss banks.
“The Supreme Court alone is the competent authority to interpret the Constitution and its orders regarding writing a letter to the Swiss courts are being violated again,” he added.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that corruption cases in connection with the rental power projects were pending against the new premier. He claimed that the government was running the affairs of the state by printing currency notes and borrowing from within the country and abroad.
Munawar said that scores of Pakistanis were forced to leave the country because of the anti-people policies of the rulers, causing large-scale closure of industries. He said that talented and hard working Pakistanis could put the country on the path of progress and prosperity. The image of Pakistan abroad had been tarnished because of the rulers’ apologetic attitude, he added.
