LAHORE – Claiming that lawyers affiliated with the PML-Q and the PPP are a force to reckon with, Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has urged them to join hands with each other.
Talking to a delegation of lawyers who called on him at his residence on Sunday to felicitate him on assuming the office of the deputy prime minister, Pervaiz said that he attached great importance to the welfare and wellbeing of the lawyers’ community. “I would soon convene a lawyers’ convention,” he added.
Pervaiz, who is also a senior PML-Q leader, said that after the 2008 elections, some people thought that our role in the national politics had ended, but our role in the national politics had always been very effective.
He further said that the lawyers affiliated with the PML-Q had been playing a key role in the election of bar associations, including that of the Supreme Court and the Lahore High Court and its different benches.
