Erasing sales tax on paper demanded

March 02, 2012

LAHORE – All Pakistan Teachers Federation (APTF) Chairman Azam Butt has said that the Federal and Provincial Governments should not only erase sales tax on paper but also import it from India. Without decreasing price of paper educational development was impossible, he said.
Talking about the tall claims of the higher authorities that teachers enjoy high status, better life style and free education, Azam said the situation was contrary to them. Criticising the government’s move to close Punjab Text Board, APTF Chairman said, ‘the purpose was to serve the needs of the Foreign Donors that want to oust Jihad, role of Martyrs and other historic stuff from the text books’. He also criticised the committee formed to revise the teachers’ pay scales calling it a delaying tactic.
