LAHO RE - Construction of Kalabagh Dam is purely a technical issue which has been politicized as a result of some international conspiracies, Sindh Tass Water Council Pakistan Chairman Hafiz Zahoorul Hasan Dahar says. Appearing in Aiwan-i-Waqt Forum on Monday, he said to save the country all conspiracies against the gigantic project must be rejected. Otherwise, Pakistans economy and sovereignty will be affected. He warned that the enemys hand had reached the countrys jugular vein and slightest complacence would amount to committing suicide. Hafiz Dahar said India was constructing dams and barrages on the rivers flowing into Pakistan, which was indicative of the enemys designs against the Islamic republic. By opening the gates of its reservoirs, he said, India would be in a position to flood Pakistan within no time. Such a move would cause more destruction than a nuclear weapon, he said. He alleged that bureaucrats who were in a position to take decision had shut their eyes because of what he said their vested interests. He said an awareness campaign would be launched in Pakistan from Nov 22. He said the council would call an all parties engineers conference, where the prime minister and the leader of the opposition would also be invited.
