LAHORE-Deputy Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Shaukat Mehmood Basra on Wednesday criticised PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif for his announcement that Allama Tahirul Qadri be given a free hand to lead the march on Islamabad.
In a press statement, the PPP leader alleged that PML-N chief was writer of the script to de-rail democracy. “At first, he did not utter a word on the issue for quite some time, and now when he has broken his silence, he is talking of giving a free hand to the marchers”, he remarked.
Basra said that while all other parties had sprung into action to save the democratic system, Mian Nawaz Sharif, who otherwise claims to be a champion of democracy, was unmoved as yet. “All democratic forces are concerned over his stance on this very important issue”, he said. Basra suspected that a conspiracy has been hatched against democracy in Punjab and PML-N leader was also on board.
