LAHORE - Provincial Ombudsman Javed Mehmood said Saturday that government officers could know the grievances of the people by placing complaint boxes at their offices and could provide relief to them.
Talking to complainants during an open kutchehry at Circuit House Rajanpur, he stressed upon the officers to promote transparency and eliminate maladministration in government.
Javed Mehmood said resolution of people’s problems at their doorstep was good governance.
He disclosed he would soon hold another open kutchehry in Rajanpur to review the progress made on the complainants of the people. Punjab Ombudsman said Rajanpur was the most backward district of Punjab. He said he observed a little development work was going on in Rajanpur district. He stressed upon the people to raise voice in favour of their rights instead of sitting silent over excesses and should not lodge complaint against anyone unnecessarily. He said he would hold open kutchehris in other areas as well to get the first hand knowledge of the problems of the people and play his role to provide them relief. People submitted their complaints about various departments in open kutchehry on which the Ombudsman issued orders. He also issued orders on some applications for inquiry.
Districts officers and a large number of people attended the open kutchehry.
