‘Computerised exam system need of the hour’

LAHORE - The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore Chairman Nasrullah Virk said they were working to introduce computerised system of examination in order to avoid mistakes and to ensure transparency in the results.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, following the protest by the dozens of students who had complaints about the errors in Intermediate Part-I result, the board chairman said that invigilator’s who were appointed to take care of examinations were incompetent. He said they failed to maintain accurate attendance of candidates which later created problems not only for the students but also for the board. According to documents there were 1712 candidates who were reported absent in the attendance sheets while 292 had written wrong roll numbers on the answer sheets. The chairman said most complaints had taken place in the results due to the negligence of invigilators as they did not maintain students’ attendance and answer sheets record properly at the examination center.
According to details total 121,564 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 67,887 passed, 2,004 candidates’ results were held due to errors in roll numbers or in attendance, while rest remained unsuccessful in the examination.
Answering a question, the board chairman said that board had received 35 complaints of wrong roll numbers in the Grade-II (Intermediate Part-II) examination result.
When asked about papers re-checking process, he told that the process would be done in presence of complainant. He also said that in case if errors or missing find during re-checking then board had to return the submitted amount to candidate.
SEATS reserved: A Punjab University spokesman has said that admissions on the reserved seats at each department of Punjab University for Baloch students have been completed and classes will commence from October 10. The spokesman said that now the admissions on the said seats will be opened in the next academic year.

schedule: Punjab University Examinations Department has issued the schedule for submission of admission forms for MBBS Annual Examination 2012.  According to details, last date for submission of admission forms for MBBS (1st Prof, Part-1), with single fee is October 10.
