Grand alliance against corrupt on the cards

LAHORE - Mainstream religio-political and political parties have agreed to the proposal of Talal Akbar Bugti, Chief of his own faction of Jamhoori Wattan Party for forming a grand alliance to purge the country of inefficient, non representative and corrupt political leadership and early trial of Nawab Akbar Bugti’s assassins.

Talal, son of slain Baloch elder Nawab Akbar Bugti, spent a busy day in City on Tuesday when he met with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan, Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Ameer Prof Sajid Mir, Nazim-e-Ala Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan, Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer, convener Pakistan Awami Mahaz Arshad Chaudhry and Manzoor Gilani and discussed with them prevailing political situation in the country especially in Balochistan. He also discussed with them prospects of a grand alliance before elections.
In a meeting with Syed Munawar Hasan at Mansoora, Talal Bugti said he was sure that Pervez Musharraf was responsible for undermining Pakistan’s solidarity, the Lal Masjid operation, handing over Dr Aafia Siddiqui to the US and for Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder and he would definitely meet an exemplary fate.
He said that the undemocratic forces ruling the country under President Zardari were planning to rig the elections so as to remain in power and continue their loot and plunder. He expressed the hope that the patriotic parties would join hands in a grand alliance to foil the conspiracies against the country’s ideology, its solidarity and integrity, failing which the establishment and the undemocratic forces would play their dirty role in the elections to maintain status quo.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that accountability of Nawab Akbar Bugti’s assassins was a must for foiling unholy US designs in the region. He saluted Talal Bugti’s services for the country’s solidarity and unity, and urged all national and provincial level parties to enter into a grand alliance for safeguarding national solidarity and the implementation of Supreme Court orders. He announced that the JI would soon hold a public meeting at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan in support of Talal Bugti’s agenda for the country’s solidarity and national unity to ensure that his voice became the voice of the nation.
He further said that full justice must be done to the Balochistan people in order to pull them out of deprivations and for the solution of their problems. He said that the government had intentionally created conditions that promoted terrorism and sectarian hatred in the country especially in Karachi and Balochistan and it was patronizing a gang of criminals trading in target killing and extortion.
Addressing a press conference with Talal Bugti, Senator Sajid Mir presented a three point formula for establishing peace in Balochistan, which called for Gen Musharraf’s trial for Akbar Bugti’s murder, election of genuine leadership and stopping all kinds of military operations and atrocities in the province.
Both the leaders warned that undemocratic forces were hatching a conspiracy to impose puppet leadership in the country and Balochistan and to countering it the religious and patriotic forces should forge a grand alliance.
He alleged that President House had become a hub of anti-state conspiracies and playing a dirty game with the establishment to impose desired leadership on Balochis for which billions of rupees were being spent. Talal Bugti said he had come out to save Balochistan and it was time people of Punjab must come out to save the country and Balochistan.
Sajid Mir said army and its agencies must take stock of the situation and prevent Balochistan from becoming another East Pakistan. He said Talal Bugti had assured joining all Baloch leadership in national mainstream if atrocities of agencies were stopped in Balochistan.
In a meeting with PAM leaders, Talal stressed upon Punjab to play the desired role of elder brother to resolve the Balochistan issue in a bid to save Pakistan.
He claimed that real political leadership of Balochistan was being eliminated to put forth the non representatives.
