LAHORE– Senior police officers till late Sunday night were demanding former Lahore Commissioner and current Additional Federal Secretary Khusro Pervaiz to hand over his son, Shan Khusro, to investigators in connection with the killing of a 22-year-old boy, who was found shot dead in Barki police area on Saturday night.

Police sources revealed that the influential Khusro, also former Home Secretary Punjab, was reluctant to hand over the alleged killer to the police for interrogation despite the fact that Shan Khusro was nominated as accused in the First Information Report (FIR).
The police registered a murder case against the son of Khusro Pervaiz (under section 302) on the complaint of Fazal Elahi, father of the deceased.
Hamza Elahi, 22, the son of Sheikh Fazal Elahi, said to be the President of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shah Alam Market, was found shot dead from Defense Phase-VI on Saturday. Police said that Hamza, the O-Level student of Lahore Grammar School Johar Town, was lying dead alongside a road with a bullet hole in his head as the investigators rushed to the crime scene. Some passers-by spotted the dead body and contacted the police by phone. The police recovered a mobile phone from the pocket of the deceased and contacted his family. The family told the police that Hamza along with his friend, Shan Khusro, left his GOR-1 residence on his Honda-car on Saturday afternoon.
“Police officers are present at the residence of Khusro Pervaiz right now. But he is unwilling to hand over the alleged killer to the police,” a police source privy to the development told this reporter, requesting his name not be mentioned.
A police investigator said that the killer(s) shot Hamza in the head from point blank range and fled away after throwing his body along side a road in Burki police precincts. The police investigators however, recovered the vehicle of the deceased from Guldasht area on Saturday night.
According to preliminary investigations, police sources said, it seemed that Shan Khusro shot dead his best friend Hamza Elahi. The reasons behind the killing are not clear yet.
The police handed over the dead body to the deceased’s family after autopsy on early Sunday. The deceased was buried at a local graveyard in the presence of hundreds of people amid emotional scenes. Further investigations were underway.
A couple of months ago, Ichhra police had registered a (FIR No 196/12 under sections 380-theft and 457-trespass) on the complaint of Deputy Secretary Fareed Ahmed. The complainant had told the police that unidentified person took away a German shepherd dog from his residence. The police tried to interrogate Shan Khusro and his friends but the influential Khusro intervened and snubbed cops. Three police investigators had been suspended as they tried to interrogate the influential Khusro’s son. Police circles believed that Khusro Pervaiz was the man, who got suspended three investigating officers of the case namely Inspector Rana Naseem, ASI Ulfat, and ASI Riaz. Khusro Pervaiz has been currently posted in the Ministry of Economic Affairs Division.
Police sources believed that Deputy Secretary Fareed Ahmed, who had got settled in GOR-III several months ago, later learnt through his neighbours that a few boys belonging of elite families were involved in robberies especially in theft cases of German shepherd dogs.
The Deputy Secretary had also a Pedigree German shepherd dog that was registered at Lahore Canal Club and German Shepherd Dogs Club but unfortunately the dog was stolen away on Feb 22, 2012.
According to German Shepherd Dogs Club Manager Aamir Malik, at least five cases of Pedigree dogs-theft have been reported in GOR-I, II, and III.
