May 3rd was proclaimed World Press Freedom Day by the UN General Assembly in 1993 to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence; and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.
On the occasion, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, US Consulate General Lahore staff including Public Affairs Office Brinille Ellis, and Information Officer Leslie Goodman as well as office bearers of Lahore Press Club were also present.
