LAHORE – City police have begun investigations into the killing of a 22-year-old boy who was found shot dead in the Burki police area on Saturday night with no arrest made so far. “Investigations are underway and no arrest has been made in connection with the killing so far,” Cantonment SP (Operations) Maroof Safdar Wahla told this scribe on Monday. He said that the murder case of Hamza was registered against three unidentified people while Shan Khusro, the son of former Lahore Commissioner and current Additional Federal Secretary Khusro Pervaiz, had not been interrogated yet.Hamza Elahi, 22, the son of Sheikh Fazal Elahi, said to be the president of the Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shah Alam Market, was found shot dead from Defense Phase-VI on Saturday. Police said that Hamza, an O-Level student of Lahore Grammar School Johar Town, was lying dead alongside the road with a bullet hole in his head as the investigators rushed to the crime scene. The family told the police that Hamza along with his friend, Shan Khusro, left his GOR-1 residence on his car on Saturday afternoon. Police sources claimed that senior officers until late Sunday night were demanding former Lahore Commissioner Khusro Pervaiz to hand over his son, Shan Khusro, to investigators in connection with the killing but he refused flatly. The whereabouts of Shan Khusro were not clear yet, police said. A police investigator said that the killer(s) shot Hamza in the head from point blank range and fled away after throwing his body alongside a road in the Burki police precincts. The police investigators however, recovered the vehicle of the deceased from the Guldasht area. Further investigations are underway. CIA SMASHES GANG OF ROBBERS: CIA police on Monday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting it six members, including the ringleader involved in several incidents of street crimes and auto-lifting. A police spokesperson said that they arrested six members of Imran alias Mani gang and recovered two cars, two motorcycles, Rs73,000, artificial jewellery and three cell phones, as well as illegal weapons from their possession. The criminals have confessed to 15 incidents of street crimes and auto-theft during preliminary interrogation. CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN REGISTER INCREASE: The reportage of crimes against women registered an increase in March with an average 17 FIRs lodged per district as compared with the preceding month of February when 10 FIRs were filed, said an NGO Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its report issued on Monday.
