LAHORE - Britain Susan Hyland Acting High Commissioner and British deputy Political Counselor Jasper Thomson called on the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)Secretary General Liaqat Baloch at his residence Monday.
They discussed the political situation of Pakistan and Afghanistan and JI’s policy in the prevailing situation. JI Deputy Secretary General Dr Farid Piracha, JI Punjab chief Dr Waseem Akhtar and Ehsanullah Waqqas were also present.
Addressing a workers meeting, Baloch said that Karachi and Quetta blasts were the anti-Pakistan forces work, who were hostile to the Pak-Iran gas pipe line project and the Gowadar handing over to China. He said there was solid evidence of the involvement of colonial powers in the terrorist and subversive activities.
Baloch said that the PPP and its allies had driven the country towards total destruction during the last five years. The independence and sovereignty of the country had been sold out and national prestige had been lost. All the national institutions and the country’s economy had been ruined. Despite that, these shameless rulers were hopeful of returning to power again. However, he said, the country’s masses won’t let that happen.
