LAHORE - A 37-year-old man and his son were killed in a road accident in Nishtar Colony on Wednesday, police said.
Muhammad Khalid, said to be a carpenter, was getting his children to school in the morning when he had the accident.
According to eyewitnesses, Khalid opted for a shortcut via greenbelt at Hakim Chowk to avoid one kilometer U-turn when a tractor-trolley hit his bike, killing him and son Hamid on the spot. His daughter Uzma Bibi remained unhurt since she crossed the road by foot. However, she fell unconscious as she watched them dying. The police reached the spot and handed over the bodies to family. The lawmen impounded the tractor-trolley and are investigating.
Separately, a youth was found dead from the drain in the Hayer police precincts. Police named the deceased Nadeem Akram, a 21-year-old resident of Hayer village. The body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy. Investigators said that the body was lying alongside the Rohi Nullah as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body on early Wednesday and alerted the police.
Police investigators say they believe unidentified killers shot dead the man somewhere else and escaped after throwing his body into the drain. The police have registered a case against unidentified killers and are investigating.
