'My Lahore kicks off at Tollinton Market

LAHO RE - My Lahore, a photography competition and exhibition organised by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was kicked off at Tollinton Market in the premises of Lahore Museum on Tuesday. On the occasion, PML-N MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was the chief who paid rich tributes to the participants of the photography competition, saying the event would help to highlight the tourism potential of the Lahore. He said the country was fortunate enough that it had more than 50 per cent of its population below the age 25 and the people have the potential to change the destiny of the country that had been facing multiple challenges for quite long now. He further said the government in consultation of the private sector would have to evolve out-of-box solution to cope with ongoing crisis. On the occasion, more than 200 photographs having different sights of old and new Lahore were put on display. The competition has two categories of contestants including students and professionals. The jury comprises of professionals will decide the best snaps. The winners of both categories would be awarded Rs 0.1 million each. On Tuesday, the LCCI also held other events including Young Entrepreneurs Business Plan Competition and Vintage Car Rally and World Punjab Organisation Musical Evening. The Vintage Car Rally was started from the parking area of Liberty Market and ended at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For being first of its kind, the Vintage Car rally was appreciated by all as on the way of the rally, the people were lined up to witness this rare event arranged by the LCCI in collaboration with Punjab government. Addressing the participants of the Vintage Car Rally, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said Lahore Shopping Festival had given a lease of life to the Lahorites who were looking for such beautiful functions. He said the Punjab government would continue to support all such events aimed at strengthening the economy of the country. RACE WINNER: The Hailey College of Banking & Finances sporting icon Sehrish Asghar has won three gold medals in the 200-meter, 800-meter and 1,500-meter races, during the 64th PU inter-collegiate girls athletics championship. Sehrish had won two silver medals in the 31st national games and five gold medals in Pakistan inter-university games.
