LDA locks businesses downtown

LAHORE - During an operation on Saturday, staff of the Commercialisation Directorate of Lahore Development Authority sealed a total of 63 showrooms, situated along main roads of Samanabad and Gulshan-e-Ravi, on account of their failure in payment of commercialisation fee.
Owners and occupants of these properties had repeatedly been served with notices requesting commercialisation fee and had been granted numbers of relaxations in the time for payment as well.
To facilitate the calculation of the fee to be paid for commercialisation of these properties with LDA, the LDA staff had also measured the area of these properties which was being used for commercial activities by them.
After expiry of deadline, LDA staff sealed 63 properties situated along these two roads.
Meanwhile, LDA informed that permission for temporary/annual commercialisation had been ceased on 46 declared roads as well as on roads of re-classification area of Gulberg Scheme from 31 December 2012.
Owners and occupants of these properties have been served notices for getting these properties permanently commercialised without delay, by paying the requisite fee. They had been advised to apply for permanent commercialisation of their properties within seven days, failing which their properties would be sealed without further notices.
Last chance: The allottees of LDA Avenue One Housing Scheme, who till now had not deposited one or more instalments of the price of their plots, have been advised to pay the remaining dues by the 13 March 2013.
A press statement issue by LDA on Saturday said no penalty or mark up will be charged for late payment of price by these allottees. Final date for payment of arrears would not be extended and allotments of defaulters could be cancelled after this date.
In case of an allottee’s decision of taking refund of his/ her amount, a 10 per cent deduction will be made from his/her balance.
