Robbers strike City 20 times in a day


LAHORE – Gangsters on Saturday hit the provincial metropolis for no less than 20 times, robbed residences and looted families, and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth millions of rupees at gunpoint, police sources claimed.
The bandits also took away two cars and five motorcycles from different parts of the City.
Gunmen forced their entry into the garments shop of one Ahmed in the Township police precincts and fled away after snatching cash and valuables worth two million rupees. The bandits also tortured the salesman on resistance and snatched away the van.
A housemaid collected cash, gold ornament and other valuables from the residence of Shahid in the Defence-A police area and fled away. The police are investigating on the complaint of house owner.
Two gunmen intercepted the family of Junaid in the Johar Town police limits and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs one million. The family of Javed was deprived of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 600,000 at gunpoint from the vicinity of Iqbal Town police.
Four robbers including two women held up Tipu Sultan at gunpoint in the South cantonment police limits and snatched away his car and also Rs 100,000 and a mobile phone from him.
Gangsters also hit passersby and motorists in the Kot Lakhpat, Johar Town, Lytton Road, Hanjarwal, Liaqatabad, Samanabad, Shahdara and Nawab Town police limits and took away cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, two cars were driven away from Islampura and Township police areas while five motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Shadman, Factory Area, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadbagh and Shafiqabad police limits.
Six DSPs reshuffled: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Khan Baig on Saturday ordered the transfers and postings of seven police officers including six Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), officials said.
According to the notification, SDPO Chunian, district Kasur, Ehsan Elahi Sheikh has been transferred and directed to report to the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore. SDPO Muridkay, district Sheikhupura, has been posted as DSP Chunian.
DSP Chishtian Khawar Zaman has been transferred and posted as DSP Traffic Bahawalnagar while DSP Traffic Bahawalnagar Muhammad Anwar has been posted as SDPO Chishtian circle.
Muhammad Akram Niazi SDPO Darya Khan, district Bhakkar, has been transferred and posted as DSP Traffic Mianwali while Muhammad Ameer Khichi DSP Pattoki has been transferred and posted as DSP Mobile Cantonment Lahore.
Meanwhile, Shahzad Akbar, awaiting posting, has been posted as SSP Special Branch Punjab.
