Traffic warden thrashes driver

LAHORE – A traffic warden badly thrashed a Mazda driver over a minor violation in Kot Lakhpat police area on Saturday.
However, taking note of the incident, the Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmed Mobin hushed up the matter by reconciling both parties.
 According to details, a traffic warden Muhammad Farooq (TW/1579) thrashed a Mazda driver Muhammad Riaz seconds after he violated traffic rules on road in front of the City’s leading hospital. The injured Riaz was taken to Neurosurgery Ward of the General Hospital whereas citizens blocked the main road and held protest demonstration against the violent attitude of the traffic warden.
Later, SHO Kot Lakhpat along with a good number of police contingents reached the spot and taken the warden in custody. Meanwhile, the CTO Lahore flanked by other traffic officers reached the police station and reconciled the both parties.
Meanwhile, SP Operations Model Town Division Malik Awais has suspended in-charge Firdous Market Chowki SI Muhammad Shafiq over deteriorating situation of law and order in his locality.
Five accused involved in smuggling nabbed: At least five alleged accused involved in smuggling illegal items including kites were arrested in Shahdara and Gulshan Ravi police areas on Saturday.  The arrested were identified as Afaaq, Jalal, Mushtaq, Ashfaq and Idrees. Police have recovered kites, and other articles from their possession.
Further investigations are underway.
