April 09, 2012

LAKKI MARWAT - Workers of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf held a protest demonstration on Sunday against the unbearable electricity loadshedding, price hike and exorbitant increase in the prices of oil commodities.
The PTI local leaders including Saleem Nawaz, Asghar Khan, Inamullah Khan and others led the procession, which started from Sheen Bagh Chowk in front of the Government Postgraduate College and culminated at Michenkhel Adda after passing through the busiest Kargil Chowk on main bus stop.
The protesters were carrying party flags and banners and were chanting full-throated slogans against the government. They remained peaceful the whole way and avoided blocking road or disrupting the flow of traffic.
On the occasion, the PTI leaders said that to resolve the masses’ problems was not on the priority of the rulers as they were looting the national exchequer with both hands.
The unbridled corruption in the present PPP-led regime has destroyed the country’s esteem institutions and defamed the country in the comity of world nations. They said that the shortage of gas and unfair power outages had added to the miseries of people, saying that it has become impossible for the consumers to pay utility bills.
“People even cannot afford buying daily use commodities as their prices have gone beyond their power of purchase”, they maintained.
They demanded of the government to arrest the killers of PTI activist Najeeb, stop unscheduled load shedding and refrain from restoring Nato supply line.

Meanwhile, a proclaimed absconder was killed in an encounter with police in Landi Meer Salam area in the jurisdiction of Tajori police station.
“After receiving information about the presence of some outlaws in the area, DPO Gulzar Ali Khan directed Tajori police to take action against the criminals”, said an official.
He said that a police contingent backed by commandos of Elite Force and Anti Terror Squad reached the area, surrounded the hideout of wanted criminals and order them to surrender.
“But the proclaimed absconders opened firing on police party, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate”, he maintained, saying that as a result one of the wanted criminals identified as Shaukat alias Shaukati was killed.
The police also arrested another outlaw identified as Kaloo Khan from the hideout and also seized weapons and a hand-grenade.
Girl injured in firing
