Wattoo asks Sharifs to declare assets

LAHORE- Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab President and Federal Minister for Kashmir-Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has urged Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to declare his personal and family assets within the country and overseas.
Addressing a press conference at PPP Punjab office here on Friday, he alleged that the Sharif brothers had accounts and property in other countries, but he did not have any account or property abroad.
He said Shahbaz had repeated allegations in his speech at Okara in which courts had already declared him innocent.
Wattoo told the media that the cabinet had approved flat rates for electricity of Rs 8 per unit for agriculture tube-wells and Rs 16 billion would be given in subsidy by the government in this regard, adding that all taxes would be included in the flat rate.
He said the government had divided arrears of electricity bills of farmers into 12 instalments, adding an amount of Rs 500 million had also been given in concession to them.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian Counter-part were going to inaugurate the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project soon and the decision had been taken in national interest which would benefit the national economy.
To a question, he said the PPP was working on its manifesto and it would soon be published.
To another question on the Pak-Iran gas pipeline, he said the world would realise requirements and needs of Pakistan, adding the PPP had not compromised on national interests.
