The Punjab Assembly has unanimously approved resolutions in favour of reinstating Bahawalpur province and the formation of a separate province in southern Punjab.

Both resolutions were tabled by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rana Sanaullah during Wednesday’s session of the provincial assembly, which started with a delay of over two hours.
The Punjab Assembly has asked the Federal Government to set up a National Commission immediately to examine all aspects including constitutional‚ administrative‚ legal and financial matters and distribution of resources regarding creation of the new provinces.
The House through these resolutions said the proposed Election Commission should submit its recommendation at the earliest.
