Dacoits strike 24 times in City


LAHORE – Robbers on Monday went on the rampage, shot at and injured a youth on resistance, hit the provincial capital for 24 times successfully, and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables wroth millions rupees, police sources claimed.
As per details, two gunmen intercepted a motorcyclist, Shahzad Ahsan, near Auriga shopping Center in Ghalib Market police vicinity. The bandits held him up at gunpoint and demanded cash, motorcycle, and mobile phone. As the youth offered resistance, they shot at and wounded him and fled away after snatching his two-wheeler. The injured was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition.
Robbers barged into the house of Muhammad Ali Iqbal Town police precincts and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth 600,000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
Armed bandits forced their entry into the house of Muhammad Fayyaz situated in Mughalpura police limits and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 500,000.
Robbers stormed into the house of one Muhammad Akbar in Faisal Town area, held up the family members at gunpoint and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 400,000. In another incident of house robbery, robbers snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 400,000 from the residence of Khalid Rashid in Harbanspura police area.
Syed Afafan was on his way home when two motorcyclists intercepted him in Satu Katla police precincts. The bandits held him up at gunpoint and snatched away cash, a lap-top and cellular phone worth tens of thousands of rupees.
Mukhtar Ahmed was deprived of his cash and valuables including a wristwatch worth Rs 40,000 from Defense-A police area while two gunmen held up Ahmed Faraz in Ghalib Market police area and snatched away cash and mobile phone worth Rs 50,000 from him.
Two gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted Usman in Shafiqabad police area and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 50,000 from him. Gunmen held up Adnan in Johar Town police area and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 50,000 from him at gunpoint. Qaiser was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs 40,000 from Green Town police vicinity while robbers also held up Muhammad Amir in the same police area and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 35,000 at gunpoint.
Farid was on his way home when gunmen intercepted him in Shadbagh police area. He was deprived of cash and valuables wroth Rs 24,000.
Meanwhile, five cars were either snatched or stolen away from Defense-A, South Cantonment, Gulshane-e-Iqbal, South Cantonment, and Old Anarkali police areas. Also, at least nine motorcycles were either snatched or stone away from North Cantonment, Gowalmandi, Shahdara, Race Course, Shahdara Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Civil Lines, Lower Mall, Sabzazar and Nawan Kot police areas respectively. The police are investigating.
Meanwhile, five robbers barged into the house of one Muhammad Ashraf situated in Satu Katla police area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs three millions after holding the family members hostage at gunpoint.
Four armed bandits set up a picket in Shadbagh police area and snatched away hundreds of thousands of rupees from the traders of Loha Market at gunpoint. The victims also staged protest demonstration against the police.
Robbers also forced their entry into the house of Anwar Masood in Harbanspura area and escaped after snatching cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, show-cause notices have been served to nine police drivers on showing criminal negligence in maintenance of cars, police mobiles and other vehicles of the department by SP Mujahid Squad on Monday.
SP issued directives for Motor Transport Officers (MTOs) and other relevant authorities to ensure proper maintenance and safety of motorcars, mobiles and other vehicles plying on the City’s roads. He has also issued show cause notices to nine drivers on the aforesaid negligence.
