6,000 cops to man metro bus inauguration

LAHORE – Six thousand policemen are deployed on Metro Bus Service route to ensure security, an official said on Saturday. He said security arrangements have been finalised for the inaugural ceremony of the system.  Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig has also directed the police to strictly deal with the troublemakers. The IGP issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting held to review security arrangements at the Central Police Office on Saturday.  Special police would be deployed on all the 27 routes of the Metro-Bus. The police contingents including traffic officials would also be deployed on both sides of the Metro-Bus routes to ensure security and smooth flow of traffic from Shahdara station to the Gajju Matta station.  Two policemen would patrol on the route from one station to the other station on motorcycles.  The IGP said that the Punjab police would perform security duties for the bus system until the government establishes a separate administrative force for this project.
