LAHORE – Police have begun investigation into the killing of an ex-serviceman killed in a drive-by shooting outside the Siddique Trade Centre at Main Boulevard late Friday.
Maj (r) Naveed Taaj died on the spot while his wife, two daughters and a son sustained bullet injuries in a drive-by shooting in the Ghalib Market police precincts.
The ex-army officer was on his way to attend a wedding party in the suburb of Lahore when the attackers targeted his car. Police said that the family had arrived in Lahore from Islamabad on Friday morning.  Police investigators believed that the gunmen had information about the movement of the retired officer in the city. The police have detained two suspects and are investigating.
A murder case was registered against unidentified killers on the complaint of Azam Khan, brother-in-law of the deceased. The police handed over the dead body to the family on Saturday. Further investigations were underway. The gunfire created panic in the commercial locality.
