LAHORE – The University of Health Sciences (UHS) is organising a seminar on ‘Implication of Vitamin D for Reproductive Well Being’ on Thursday (July 12).
Noted scientist Dr Lubna Pal will be the guest speaker of the seminar which is being arranged by UHS Centre for Research in Endocrinology and Reproductive Sciences (CRERS).
Regarding the seminar, the UHS physiology and cell biology department’s head Professor Khalid P Lone said that low vitamin D levels during pregnancy could affect well being of the mother as well as the newborn. He said that because a newborn’s vitamin D level depends on mother’s vitamin D status, deficiency during pregnancy could result into rickets (bone softening and weakening) in the child.
