Power shortfall reaches 4,300MW

LAHORE – Power shortfall has reached 4,300 megawatt with loadshedding duration of up to 10 hours in urban and rural areas of the country.
According to the Pakistan Electric Power Company, total generation of electricity power is 10,552 MW while its demand is 14,852 MW.
Hydel power generation is only 703 MW due to deadly down surface of water in Tarbela and Mangla dams. Thermal plants are generating only 1,841MW while IPPs 6,000 MW.
Sources say the distribution companies are conducting up to 12 hours loadshedding in rural areas while the cities including Lahore is under the grip of eight to 10 hours shutdown.
