Man kills wife over ‘honour’


LAHORE - A man strangulated his wife over ‘honour’ in the Gujjarpura area on Sunday, police said. According to them, Tahir doubted that her spouse Maria Bibi was ‘infidel’ to him. They said, Tahir, the resident of Jameel Park in Kot Khawaja Saeed killed her after he fell into fury over the issue. Police have registered a case and sent the body for autopsy.
ARRESTED: The Samanabad police arrested 10 gamblers and recovered cash and other valuables from them. They were identified as Kashif, Imran, Nasir, Murtaza, Amir, Jameel, Ikhlaq, Fiaz, Asim and Billa. Meanwhile, Lorry Adda police arrested Ayaz, Boota and Khalid on gambling charges.  he Green Town police arrested six people on the charges of merrymaking. They include Akram Faisal, Saba, Gurya, Rani and Rubi.
INJURED: At least five passengers sustained injuries when a speeding bus turned turtle near Suggian Bridge in the Islampura area. They were identified as Fiaz, Aslam, Imran, Wajid and Shabir. Police said the driver lost control over the bus due to over speeding. The injured were shifted to a local hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger.
FIRE: Domestic items were gutted when fire broke out in a house in Umar Market, Gulshan Ravi.
The reason for fire was said to be short-circuit. Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported in the incident.
