Peaceful march can’t be stopped: LHC

LAHORE - The country’s courts kept on dismissing the pleas seeking directions to the quarters concerned to stop Dr Tahirul Qadri from taking a long march to Islamabad.
Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday dismissed an instant petition having same nature by observing that peaceful long march was a constitutional right of every citizen of Pakistan, and no one could be allowed to crush their rights.
“The lawyers had also conducted a peaceful long march for restoration of judiciary and nothing was damaged. Therefore, any peaceful long march could not be stopped,” the LHC chief justice further remarked. It was the second petition dismissed by the country’s courts against the announced long march.
On Wednesday, Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Hameedur Rehman had dismissed a plea having same nature. In LHC, Advocate Rana Ilamuddin Ghazi had filed the petition by submitting there was a possibility of terrorist attack on the long march announced by Dr Qadri.
Representing the petitioner, Advocate A.K Dogar said how come a government could protect the lives of the people attending the long march which had been failed to protect Muharram processions.
